It is very likely you used to love to watch The Flintstones, not just on TV, but also in movies. This costume is ideal for Halloween, and for remembering some old, nice times.
"The Flintstones" was a popular animated TV show and movie franchise. It followed the adventures of a family in the Stone Age times living in the special town of Bedrock.
TV Show (1960-1966):
The TV show was about Fred Flintstone, his wife Wilma, their daughter Pebbles, and their best friends, Barney and Betty Rubble. Fred and Barney used to work together at the Slate Rock and Gravel Company. They usually would get into funny situations at work, and also during their normal lives at out-of-work times.
The show portrays their daily lives in a comical way, and interestingly enough, with prehistoric versions of modern technology, like using dinosaurs as certain appliances, cars made out of stone, and many other examples. For their leisure, Fred and Barney enjoyed a funny version of bowling. They were both members of a men's club called the Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes, which added situations to their lives that were also funny, and well welcomed by the watching audience.
The show also used to feature the equivalent of a pet dog but in this case, a pet dinosaur they used to call Dino. There were also several quirky characters in the series, such as Mr. Slate and the Great Gazoo.
Movies (1994 and others):
In 1994 was made available a great movie called "The Flintstones", where Fred Flintstone was played by John Goodman. The movie remarkably reflected similar situations and environments as in the animated cartoons. It also included silly versions of our technological world all adapted to the stone age in a funny way.
The main theme of the movie was around the lucky fact that Fred at some moment was promoted in the quarry company to a position where he was now an executive position, and then the movie included typical challenging situations related to that kind of position.
Besides the movie released in 1994, there were also other animated movies and other types of releases that continued the adventures of the Flintstone family and their friends. In general, "The Flintstones" is so well known for its humor, family and friendship values, and the clever use of our modern life details adapted to prehistoric times when things were happening, which made most people make them part of the American pop culture since those days, and still even in our present time.
