This painting has a signature "PorTia", and there were, and still are, some painters that had, or have, this word in their names. The framing of this oil painting was performed at the "Glen Waverley Picture Framing" showing a phone number "232 2376", which follows the phone number format before 29 July 1994, which means this painting is at least 30 years old, making it more or less vintage art piece.
A "Junk" is a traditional Chinese sailing vessel, and the name seems to come from old China or perhaps Malay. In the very old days, 'Junk' vessels were usually large ones used for various purposes. Junks were originally developed during the Han Dynasty (220 B.C.E. –200 C.E.) and further evolved to represent one of the most successful ship designs in history. This painting is a Junk boat shown in the modern 'Victoria Harbour' in Hong Kong. These antique versions of the Junk boats are now quite often utilized in Hong Kong to make tourists feel back in the old times.
