This painting seems to have been sold at some point in time by a Reservoir Art place which was located at 13 Livingstone Street, Reservoir, 3073, and that had the phone number 354 1142, which means it was sold before 29 July 1994 from that location. You can see a small, superficial crack on the inside of the frame in Image 2. However, the frame from the front appears to be in quite good condition despite its old age.

Tom Groves, is, or was, supposed to be an Australian painter born at the very beginning of the 20th century, not necessarily in Australia, but perhaps in the UK.  This painter has had works showcased in various auctions even up to 2023. We cannot really tell if Tom Grooves is still alive, and certain sources suggest he may have passed away around 1979. Tom Groves used to live at 31 Middle Street, Glen Roy - or Hadfield,  Vic 3046, Tel.: 359 3534 (Phone format before 29 July 1994). 

Another interesting piece of information is that there may be more than one Tom, (or Thomas), Groves associated with painting, in some cases probably related to his descendants.

Other Tom's art creations, like "Scrub Study," an original acrylic on board, have been featured in auctions and platforms like Saatchi Art, showcasing a collection of his works. Despite limited available information, Groves' art appears to have attracted attention and appreciation in the Australian art scene through various auction events and online platforms.
