What are Peacocks?
Peacocks are also called Peafowls, and it is a name for at least three bird species of the family Phasianidae. Strictly speaking, male peafowl are supposed to be Peacocks, and female peafowl Peahens. The interesting part is that it is the males, (Peacocks), the ones that have those incredible tail feathers, mainly used for competing for females at the time of their biological reproduction. Peacocks, males or females, are one of the most revered and majestic birds around our world. The male feathers can come in many variations, and the ones used in this mask are one of the most magical ones. Perhaps, the main three variations of these birds are the Congo Peafowl, the Green Peafowl, and the Indian Blue Peafowl.
Very sadly, in our time, they now have an estimated population of only between 10,000 and 100,000 birds on our planet. The damage we have caused to forests, which is the main habitat of the wild Peafowls, is causing the numbers of peafowls to drop dramatically every year. In the wild, peafowls are supposed to live between 10 and 15 years. However, in captivity, where their health can be preserved, they can even live for up to 25 years. This gorgeous species is a popular pet for those with exotic tastes, and you would feel very happy exhibiting the most beautiful part of these birds to your friends.
